b'A Life of PotteryIn late 2019, the Hindu nationalist party ruling India succeeded in passing an act that, for the first time, made religion a basis for granting citizenship. The act arose from increased discrimination and violence toward the Islamic population, and Muslims who have called India home for generations fear being stripped of their citizenship. The tension was palpable driving through an isolated Muslim village where a heavy police presence stood watch during some kind of event. We passed Muslim men enduring poor working conditions. The resentment clear in their eyes.110'
